“Burned Through Too Many Chances” Matt Riddle Released By WWE

Matt Riddle has been released after 5 years in the WWE. His release was reported by WrestleVotes on September 22nd, the day after a number of WWE talent were also released, and confirmed by Riddle on social media soon after.

As for the reason for Riddle’s release, it is understood that Riddle “burned through too many chances” as was described by a WWE official to Fightful Select.

Riddle had been on and off television for allegedly failing a drug test in late 2022. A recent incident at John F. Kennedy Airport where Riddle, in a now deleted post, accused a police officer of behaving in an inappropriate manner towards the wrestler led to the WWE removing him from the September 11th episode of RAW, as well as removing him from house shows.
