PW Down Under Australian News Wrap-Up #1

Welcome to the very first edition of the PW Down Under Australian Wrestling News Wrap-up, where I will attempt to navigate the plethora of Australian wrestling promotions and those information super highways known as social media, to bring you a summary of the news on offer around the country, so you don’t have to! So without further ado, let us shoot around the country see what has been making news.

NSW

Let’s kick things off in New South Wales and Manly based hard rock act Big Red Fire Truck, who dropped their music video for track Psychotropic Thunder which features a who’s who of Pro Wrestling Australia (PWA) talent. The clip, filmed at Liberty Hall in Sydney amongst the chaos of an over-the-top rope Battle Royale features lead vocalist of the band Digby Robinson getting involved in the rumble action himself! A kudos to PWA, who have been working with local music acts quite regularly and these collaborations amongst two artforms is something I love to see.

Still on PWA and the Six Person Ladder match for a guaranteed championship shot at anytime and any place has now got five of it’s six participants – With Jess Troy, Ben Braxton, Big Brother Billy, Aaron Jake and Matt Boyton (FKA Mat Rogers) all announced to take part. They join an already solid card, featuring Unsocial Jordan defending his Soul of PWA championship for the first time against arguably the most opposite person he has ever stood across the ring from in The Tuckman and the always incredible Velocities battling the aptly named Joker and the Thief (Jimmy Townsend and Mick Moretti) for the PWA Tag Team Championship. The July 29 card titled ‘It’s Coming Home’ which will see each of PWA’s championships defended is coming together nicely and I can’t wait for the car to strengthen further as we near closer to the event.
