TALKING POINTS

BRODY KING WANTS AN END TO ICE

While Brody King may not have a huge name in the industry, he used his stage this week to help draw attention to an issue that is currently plaguing the American political landscape. Much like when CM Punk would adorn the trans colour scheme with his gear in support of the trans community. King this week came to the ring sporting a shirt that read ABOLISH ICE. While King did not speak on the matter, King did share a tweet on X announcing that all proceeds from the sale of the shirt will go Local Hearts Foundation in support of those families who have been impacted by the ICE raids. AEW has shown here it’s willing to allow their performers to voice their opinions on hot button topics and thus creates further general discussion amongst wrestling fans.

6 BELTS MONE

Mercedes Mone may not be many people’s favourite wrestler, but one thing is for sure. She is currently in the belt collector mode and this past week another shiny piece was added to her collection when she captured the CMLL Women’s World Championship. No one expected her to lose this match when it was announced and clearly Mone is currently on a collection spree with her ultimate sights set on the AEW Women’s World Championship at ALL IN TEXAS.

HANGMAN DECLARES WAR IN SPANISH

Usually when a company goes to another country the shows stay the same and promos are still in your standard English. This week AEW sent Hangman to the ring and allowed him to cut a full promo in Spanish, and he spent the first 5 or so minutes of the show delivering to the Mexican fans. AEW has uploaded the entire promo to their YouTube channel with subtitles so in case you didn’t understand what he was saying, you can watch it again.

A GOLDEN LOVER RETURNS

Over on Collision Don Callis welcomed the current Continental Champion, Kazuchika Okada into his family by berating Kenny Omega and saying that Kenny has no friends left in the business. Queue Mark Briscoe who says that he is Kenny’s friend but not his only friend and introduces the returning Kota Ibushi.

TONI STORM IS NOT SOME OTHER MOTHERF##KER

The Timeless one graced the Collision audience with her presence this week but looking more in line with Carmen Sandiago rather than Timeless Toni Storm. Storm would go on to sing the praises of her opponent for July 12th, but she would also announce that she is not some other motherf##ker and come ALL IN TEXAS that Mercedes will have to kill her.

IS STATLANDER DESTINED FOR A RIDE WITH DEATH?

Kris Statlander has been a staple of the AEW Women’s division since it started, but as of late she seems to be left behind and is questioning where she fits. A few weeks ago, we saw Wheeler Yuta try to get into the head of Statlander and he tried again this week before she would shove him away only to turn around and run into Moxley. Moxley would tell her to not let anyone tell her, her worth. Could we be seeing the potential of a new addition to the Death Rider family in Statlander?
