TALKING POINTS

NEW CHAMPIONSHIP / BLOODY KENNY / OKADA JOINS DON CALLIS

Holy f**king sh*t! The way the Dynamite section of this episode is something that was wild. The new AEW Unified Championship (WWE owns the copyright to Intercontinental Championship so that is why this name was chosen) was unveiled and it is a beautiful belt. Personally, I think the center plate could be a bit larger in both height and width but it’s still an amazing design.

But the real talking point of this segment was Okada joining Don Callis and then absolutely laying waste to Kenny Omega to the point that Omega was spewing up blood. If this had been a normal Dynamite show and that was the ending, people would be going wild with predictions of what is to come next time.

Not that it needed anything to be added, but it has made the unification match at ALL IN TEXAS feel more personal and has added an extra element to the storied history of the two men.

SWERVE AND OSPREAY CONTINUE TO PROVE THAT AEW IS WHERE THE BEST WRESTLE

Opening the show with Swerve and Ospreay was going to be a gamble because we all know how damn well that they work in the ring and what they are capable of delivering and this match was absolutely no different. The second meeting of two of AEW’s top stars could have easily been featured on a PPV but Tony Kahn loves to give away these bangers on TV.

The match itself went to a time limit draw which obviously leaves room in the future for a rubber match between the two men to deliver yet another banger, but it was absolutely down to the wire with action and had me on the edge of my seat with close calls and a finish that continues to tell us how good of workers the talent in AEW are.

Swerve would attempt to request for a Sudden Death finish to the match but ultimately would be confronted by The Death Riders and The Young Bucks who would end up taking Swerve down and handcuffing him to the ropes. The Bucks would reveal thumbtack modified versions of Swerve’s new shoe which they would then attempt to take his head off with but instead Ospreay would take the proverbial bullet for Swerve and end up with his face kicked in.

HANGMAN’S CRISIS

We all know the history between Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland. We also know that Hangman has not had a good relationship with The Young Bucks either. The Bucks have come back to AEW saying that they have done all of this for Hangman and that they are there for him. But in a backstage segment on the Collision section of the episode, we got to see Hangman display some sense of remorse for his previous actions against Swerve. Little did the former AEW Champion know, Prince Nana was listening in in the background and even had Swerve listening as well.

MERCEDES TRIES TO GET INSIDE THE MIND OF STORM

Mercedes Mone vs Toni Storm at ALL IN TEXAS pits the two biggest women in AEW right now against each other and has the potential to be Mercedes best showing in AEW to date. I may not be a fan of her, but I also know having the two ladies face off for the championship was inevitable.

Toni Storm has carved a legendary figure with her Timeless character and Mercedes took her Boss gimmick and turned it up with the introduction of the CEO moniker. The two ladies have always been on a path to sharing the stage together and the story being told between them keeps getting deeper.

Toni has put in the hard yards inside the ring and shown that she is no slouch when it comes to working, while Mone has seemingly taken the “easy route” to capture the gold she has around her waist.

After a hard-fought win, Mercedes would play mind games with Storm before attacking her ahead of their meeting in Texas.
