Vulcan Championship Wrestling Hits Regional NSW

Predominantly running events in the Inner West of Sydney in towns such as Canterbury, Hurlstone Park, Burwood and Ashbury since 2017, Vulcan Championship Wrestling have decided to hit the road and venture out to regional New South Wales on Saturday June 21st. They bring their brand of professional wrestling and diverse talent roster to the town of Mudgee with an event titled Mudgee Mayhem.

The man behind VCW ‘Vulcan’, best known as one of the main stars on the Australian version of the hit TV show Gladiators. Vulcan made many memorable film and television appearances over the years including James Bond: The World Is Not Enough, and Nine’s crime series Underbelly. Vulcan was also involved in the early days of the Australian Wrestling Federation in 1999, performing alongside names like Lobo, TNT, Super Crimson Mask and Jason Helton.

Mudgee rarely sees professional wrestling come to town, being approximately three and a half hours from Sydney many promotions bypass Mudgee to favor towns such as Bathurst, Parks and Dubbo. Famous for its award-winning wineries Mudgee last saw pro wrestling with International Wrestling Australia at the Mudgee show in 2015, a company that Vulcan knows well holding the IWA Heavyweight title on two occasions in the early 2000s.

Vulcan, Hudson Hulk and Prolifik ‘The Gifted’ recently participated in a promotional trip to Mudgee to promote the June 21st event, meeting locals and getting to know the town, while also holding several talks for students at St Matthew’s Catholic School and Kandos High School. VCW posted on instagram.. “We shared our journeys, talked about how wrestling’s helped us level up in life, and had a blast with push-up challenges, arm wrestles, and even a few battle raps.”

One match set to take place on June 21st is the heavyweight showdown between 6’5 current champion Ted Zilla and challenger Prolifik “The Gifted”. Refering to Prolifik’s theme song lyrics Ted Zilla said on facebook.. “When you hear the sirens come, I can hear the sirens come, that ain’t the police sirens, that’s the ambulance coming to pick up your dead body off the mat.
