Aussie Profile: Bronson Reed

Bronson Reed — known to many longtime Aussie fans as Jonah Rock — has made quite the mark in the world of wrestling over his 18-year career.
Originally from Adelaide, South Australia, Bronson dabbled in just about every sport during his high school years, from footy and rugby to basketball, before deciding to train as a professional wrestler.
He debuted in 2007, wrestling under the ring name J-Rock, and quickly became a fixture in the local Adelaide scene, competing regularly for Explosive Pro Wrestling (EPW Adelaide). His early training came under the guidance of Hartley Jackson and Col Devarney.
Bronson became a prominent figure within The Mighty Don’t Kneel (TMDK) after joining the group alongside his tag partner Elliot Sexton, with the duo competing under the team name “SexRock” across Adelaide promotions.
In 2013, Jonah Rock made his debut in Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan. There, he often teamed with fellow Australians Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste as part of TMDK, rising through the ranks from dojo talent to regular competitor on NOAH’s cards.
Jonah’s career exploded in the years that followed. He would go on to hold numerous championships across Australia and internationally, including the WrestleRock Australian National Championship, the MCW Tag Team Championship (alongside Hartley Jackson as the Australian Serial Killers), the Melbourne City Wrestling Heavyweight Championship, and the NXT North American Championship — just to name a few.
In December 2016, he took part in a WWE tryout in Melbourne during WWE’s NXT tour of Australia. His final match in Australia before heading overseas would be a monster clash against Tommy Knight for WrestleRock.
In January 2019, Jonah signed with WWE, initially debuting at an NXT live event under his real name, Jermaine Haley. He would soon adopt the Bronson Reed name and move onto the NXT main roster during the NXT Breakout Tournament, scoring a victory in his debut televised match.
He had notable clashes in NXT, including a match against his former TMDK ally Shane Haste, and in May 2021, he defeated Johnny Gargano inside a steel cage to win the NXT North American Championship — one of the highest points of his WWE tenure.
In 2021, Reed was released by WWE — but it didn’t take long for him to remind the world of who he was. Rebranded once again as Jonah, he returned to the independent scene with intensity.
His first post-WWE match saw him debut for New Japan Pro Wrestling and shortly after for TNA Wrestling, marking a swift and successful return.

In 2022, Jonah returned to Australian shores, clashing with Caveman Ugg at Renegades of Wrestling and appearing for Wrestle Rampage. That same year, he made yet another career milestone — a second return to WWE.
Since rejoining the company, Bronson Reed has continued to elevate his status. He competed alongside The Bloodline at Survivor Series: War Games in 2024 and most recently aligned himself with Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Paul Heyman in a rising faction that’s quickly gaining serious fanfare and will continue to elevate Bronson to even higher heights as he continues his pro wrestling career.

I’m Matty, a lifelong wrestling fan who first discovered the world of wrestling in 2006. It wasn’t until 2014 that I became immersed in Australian wrestling, which has since become a major passion of mine—a passion that has now evolved into showcasing Australian wrestlers through writing.
