Breaking News – WWE Releases 2 names

It’s Monday morning in Australia and have all woken to the news that WWE has gone out there and put some names on the chopping block once again in 2025.

The unexpected announcement came from X when long term WWE Superstar and John Cena’s most recent opponent at Saturday Night Main Event, R Truth tweeted that he was being released from his contract by WWE.

In the hours following the announcement by Truth, Carlito would also take to X to disclose that his time with WWE was coming to an end in two weeks when his contract expires. He would go on to say that the WWE had advised him they will not be renewing his contract, but he will see us all again in another 13 years.

A Brief History of R Truth

Truth had been with WWE for most of his wrestling career and while never reaching the pinnacle of WWE, has been a main stay of the company even through the previous releases. Originally, Truth debuted in WWE in 1999 and would see a small measure of success before he would depart the company in 2001 after being released from his contract.

Truth would then appear for the rival company at the time, NWA-TNA from 2002 through until his eventual departure in 2007. During his time in TNA, Truth would ascend to the top of the wrestling world and would become a part of the history of the NWA World’s Championship with two runs holding the 10 Pounds of Gold.

2008 would see Truth return to the WWE and would see his tenure through until the release in 2025. During his time within the company, he would hold the United States Championship, Tag Team Championships, 24/7 Championship and would work with some of the company’s biggest names including Kofi Kingston, Goldust, Triple H, Brock Lesnar and John Cena just to name a few.

Truth’s final run in WWE saw him challenge his childhood hero John Cena unsuccessfully for the WWE Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24th 2025.
