TALKING POINTS

Swerve, Hangman and Ospreay – Strange Bedfellows

After winning the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, Hangman set his sights on Jon Moxley and his attempt to regain the gold at ALL IN TEXAS. However, Swerve has other plans when it comes to Hangman and the AEW World Championship. Cue the Aerial Assassin, Will Ospreay to try and cool things down between the career rivals. Ospreay would deliver an impassioned promo sprouting how Hangman is the one to get it done on July 12th and would ask Swerve to have Hangman’s back. This led to Swerve smacking the microphone out of Ospreay’s hand and proceeding to leave the ring. Hangman and Ospreay would get face to face where Hangman said he will never work with Swerve.

The CEO gets TIMELESS

Mercedes has been undefeated in singles action in AEW and at Double or Nothing she claimed the Owen Hart Tournament as her own while also securing her spot as the number one contender for the AEW Women’s World Championship. This past week for the first time in AEW, Mercedes and Storm came face to face with the Timeless one regaling Mone over their histories both inside and outside of the company. Toni also claimed that while the CEO has gone around collecting all the belts she can, she only needs the one belt, the AEW Women’s World Championship.

Adam Cole nasty bump.

Although it has been edited out of this video, TNT Champion Adam Cole and Kyle Fletcher went to battle in what could have easily been considered one of the week’s best TV matches. A scary spot occurred during the match when Fletcher would attempt to Powerbomb Cole onto the apron, only for both men to be too far and Cole would graze the apron with his neck and head instead of hitting it flush. This spot led to a concern from the fans and some in the locker room especially after Cole has a history of horrible injuries

A Toxic Spider arrives

The teases have been there for weeks. Just in the corner of the screen. Jamie Hayter would come to the ring to address her loss at DON but would instead be met with darkness as the lights went out and the debuting Thekla would arrive and ambush the British native.

TALKING POINTS

Okada and Bowens is a banger

Collision might usually be seen as a throw away program at times, however this week it delivered an outstanding match between the Rainmaker and the 5 Tool Player. Okada was welcomed into the arena with a rather loud cheer and Bowens would clearly come in as the underdog in this fight but that would not stop him from bringing the fight. Okada seems to have transitioned to a slight representation of his former NJPW self in the ring and Bowens was able to match that with his pace and ability. The 5TP was definitely on his game in this one and has the potential to be a champion in the future.

Love is Timeless

Mina Shirakawa battled Skye Blue and would end up on the receiving end of a beat down by Blue and Julia Hart. That was until the AEW Women’s World Champion, Toni Storm would come in and make the save for her former battle partner. Shirakawa and Storm have always had chemistry between them, could we be seeing the start of a budding romance? Or is it just a Glamorous ruse?

FTR want Mexico’s best

7 Star FTR is how they are known, but this week they claimed they want to become 8 Star FTR and they want to challenge for the CMLL Tag Team Championships. Atlantis Jr and Templario would end up confronting FTR and Dax would run down both men including insulting Atlantis Snr which clearly Jr did not take kindly too. With Grand Slam Mexico coming soon, could FTR become the new champions?
