Calling all wrestling fans! The captivating and electrifying sport of professional wrestling is always making headlines around Australia. But, for those living in Melbourne, there is one company in particular in the Northern Suburbs, entertaining the community with blockbuster shows.
Situated in the heart of Thomastown, Alpha Pro Wrestling brings its local community family friendly wrestling shows on a monthly basis, live from Pipeworks Market (5 Dunstans Court, Thomastown), at even more family friendly costs. Alpha has remained the most budget friendly wrestling promotion around, with tickets to their monthly Thursday night show, Thursday Night Fights, at a steal of $10 for general admission and $15 for front row!
Alpha Pro Wrestling also holds a once a month Saturday 2 show spectacular, with a 12pm afternoon show, Energy, that is completely FREE OF CHARGE to all Market visitors, giving the community a free taste of action packed wrestling. On the Saturday evening, a Main Event show is then held at 7pm, where tickets are still cost friendly, starting from just $15!
Alpha Pro Wrestling is owned and run by local Australian wrestling legend, Mike Manson (Mike Manson’s interview with PWDU click here), who has over 25 years of wrestling experience under his belt. He utilises this experience to entertain the community, and everyone else who travels to Thomastown for these amazing shows; shows which showcase some of the best professional wrestlers in Victoria, and Australia, with many interstate names appearing as well, coming to us from Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. Some of our fan favourites, that we love and love to hate, include:
‘The Mercenary’ SLADE MERCER Slade is a veteran wrestler with a career spanning over 2 decades. With 20 years of wrestling under his belt, Slade is a legend in Australian wrestling, who is very dedicated and focused on his career being the best of the best. He aims to stay on the top of the mountain at Alpha and has proven that he belongs there by being our World Heavyweight Champion for most of 2024. And at this point, our current Champion, Cousin Ali, should have eyes looking over his shoulders because Slade is definitely still looking to get back the gold, and won’t let anything or anyone stand in his way.
‘Everybody’s Favourite Cousin’ COUSIN ALI
Ali is literally Alpha’s hometown hero, hailing from the Northern Suburb of Broadmeadows. He is a family man who has a dream of being a role model to other up and coming wrestlers, while also living out his own dream of being inside of a ring. After years of hard work and dedication, Ali has solidified himself as one of Alpha’s best wrestlers, and is our current Alpha World Heavyweight Champion.
‘The Best Around, Mr Awesome’ ADAM CROWE
Love him or hate him (the more obvious choice), Adam has dedicated many years to wrestling and to Alpha. He is a 10 year veteran in wrestling, leaving his mark on the South Australian wrestling scene before calling Melbourne home. Adam has worked his way up the Alpha ladder and has achieved his goal of being Champion, making history as our first ever and current Melbourne Openweight Champion.
‘The Certified Bad Bitch’ MISS FORTUNE
Miss Fortune is a fan favourite and rightfully so. She came into Alpha unsure if she even belonged in the ring, but soon found her place, proving she most definitely was born to be inside of a wrestling ring. Her skills and talent are undeniable, and have seen her compete against some of Alpha’s biggest names, including Slade Mercer. Miss Fortune is currently without a doubt a top contender at Alpha. She was trained by APW (Adrenaline Pro Wrestling) who built her up tremendously, and through this, at Alpha and everywhere she goes, she is now recognised as one of the best women’s wrestlers in the state of Victoria and even Australia.
Alongside performing in front of our local community, and living their dream inside of a wrestling ring, our skilled wrestlers battle it out in hopes of being Champions, with Alpha Pro Wrestling home to many Championship belts and Trophies. As of April 2025, Alpha holds the following Championships:
- Alpha World Heavyweight Championship held by Cousin Ali
- Alpha Tag Team Championships held by the Oner Brothers
- Pipeworks Market Championship held by Nate Hunter
- Melbourne Openweight Championship held by Adam Crowe
- Alpha Energy Cup Trophy held by Matty Wild
- Alpha Energy Tag Team Trophies which are currently vacant and being competed for in a Round Robin Tag Team Tournament, where the team with the highest points in the end take home the gold
Alpha Pro Wrestling is also helping those with wrestling dreams to make them possible, offering weekly training lessons and programs to anyone who wants to get into a ring. The Monster Lab Training School, also located at Pipeworks Market, is affordable and has led to many names across Victoria and even further, to become incredible performers. It has even seen international talent step in to train our guys and girls, including former WWE trainer, Mike Quackenbush, as well as a strong business relationship with Future Stars of Wrestling, situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, which will open many doors for Alpha and its up and coming talent.
