AEW Double or Nothing – Top 5 Moments

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. All Elite Wrestling celebrated its official 6-year anniversary with their annual Double or Nothing PPV. A lot has changed over the years, but one thing remains constant and that is AEW knows how to put on a PPV. While there were no massive returns or shocking moments coming out of the event, let’s take a look at some of the best parts.

1. Mone goes ALL IN!

After entering the 2025 edition of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and making her way to the finals at Double or Nothing against Jamie Hayter. Mercedes Mone managed to secure her spot in one half of the main events for ALL IN Texas taking place on July 12th at Globe Life Field.

Leaving their best in the ring, both Hayter and Mone stepped it up a notch to determine who would walk out as the winner of the Owen Hart Tournament and unfortunately for Hayter, she was just not up to the challenge of the CEO.

2. Okada and Speedball showcase

If you had asked me in 2024 whether or not I would have Speedball Mike Bailey vs Kazuchika Okada on my bingo card, I would have said not likely. While the addition of the match to this card was made late, the two men proved why it didn’t even really need a build up for it.

Okada showed why he is one of the most dominant IWGP Champions of the past 10 years and Speedball gave us the reason he was an indie darling before stepping foot in TNA.

Speedball would make Okada work for his win and gave us a glimpse of the Okada of old for the first time in AEW.

3. Anarchy reigns supreme

If this was your first time watching an Anarchy in the Arena match, my friend you have missed out. Much like all previous AITA matches we had the music playing throughout the match except for the last few minutes of the match.

We started with The Young Bucks Founding Fathers theme, then Kenny got pissed off and instead we got excited as I’m so Excited played through the arena leading to Swerve questioning Kenny’s sanity. To round out the eclectic music selection of the night we were transported back to the early 2000’s and our angsty teenage years as we ripped into Bodies by Drowning Pool which would run the gauntlet of most of the match until Claudio would swing Swerve through a speaker putting a stop to the music.

AITA is one of those matches that definitely is not winning any star ratings, but it is a match that you can enjoy because of all the stupidity and outlandish moments that come from it.

4. Redemption of a cowboy

It was billed as Ascension vs Redemption when Will Ospreay and Hangman met in the middle of the dessert. Would Ospreay be able to rise to the occasion, or would the Hangman redeem himself and reclaim his spot in the annals of history.

This match did not let us down. While starting out on the slower end of the methodology was apparent right from the beginning. Whoever could secure the win would be the one not only crowned as the winner of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, but also the one tasked as stepping into Texas for the battle of their lives against Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship.

I genuinely went into this match not knowing who would walk out the victor and as I said to my friends, it didn’t matter who won the match because either way it was the right choice.

Hearts were surely racing, and the edge of the seat was extremely worn by the time this match was over. Each of the men gave their everything inside the ring, outside the ring and everywhere in between. This was truly a masterpiece of telling a story that left you excited for the next chapter and the ultimate conclusion.

5. Sealed with a kiss

The timeless one and Mina Shirakawa have let the sexual tension build ever since their first meeting and during Toni’s epic feud with Mariah May. Tonight, the tension boiled over and Shirakawa and Storm shared a kiss in the middle of the ring after their battle.

The question I have is where does Mariah fit in the equation? I guess only time will tell.
