Rita Stone on Slam, Newy Pro, Kingsley, Frankie B & more

From Canberra to Newcastle, Rita Stone has carved out one of the most compelling stories in Aussie Wrestling – and now, she’s got the gold around her waist.
Currently the Slam! Women’s Champion and completely undefeated in International Wrestling Australia, Rita has been evolving, rising, and collecting wins in rings across the country.
With Slam! also recently emerging as a serious player on the local wrestling scene (PWDU promotions of the year 2024), Rita said she feels very lucky to have been involved with the company from the ground up.
“I started there very early in my career. I always say I’m very lucky that I got to start there super early,” she said.
“They had a great audience — already 400 to 600 people from the start — and now they’re getting 800 to 1,000 pretty regularly. It’s been awesome just to see that consistent rise… and if not, become more relevant.”
It’s not just the promotion that’s quickly shot to fame, Rita has too, with her rivalry with names like Kingsley, who recently departed for Canada.
“Kingsley helped Rita Stone grow. I had to get a bit frustrated and angry to be able to win this belt myself,” she said.
“She definitely gave me a bit of frustration.”
That frustration turned into fire and gold. And now, someone new is coming for the throne: Frankie B.
“My first time wrestling Frankie B in a singles match,” Rita said ahead of their match at Slam! on Saturday, May 31
“We’ve had other triple threats, tags… but never in a singles. So it’ll be interesting, something I guess I have to prepare for almost.
“But I have a bit of respect for Frankie B because she helped get rid of Kingsley in a way. She put her to go — ended her career in Slam. So good riddance to Kingsley.”
The mutual respect doesn’t mean she’s underestimating Frankie’s hunger.
“I know that she’s coming for my belt. She’s made it very clear. I guess I have to have a clear mind, get ready, because I know that she’ll be ready,” she said.
Across the state, Rita’s also making waves at Newy Pro, where she’s added another historic notch to her resume.
“I just won in November. I was the first woman to hold the middleweight belt, which was pretty awesome,” she said.
“I got to unify the women’s and the middleweight title to become one… and then I had Leo Tempest come and ruin it for me and cash in his own Gauntlet to take it away.
“Now I’ve won the Gauntlet myself — so a bit of revenge is coming, I’d say. “
While some wrestlers map their next five years, Rita’s staying open to the moment.
“I’m a go-with-the-flow person. I take whatever opportunity I can get, wrestle as much as I can,” she said.
“I’m hoping to get a bit more PWA stuff… just keep doing as much as I can, get as much experience and enjoy the opportunity while I’m still young and doing it.”
From rivals to respect, gold to gauntlets, one thing is clear — Rita Stone isn’t waiting for her moment. She’s already living it.
