TALKING POINTS

MJF gets his win

For weeks now MJF has been pestering the Hurt Syndicate with his constant pitches to get himself inducted as a member of the exclusive faction. He has tried his hardest to bribe Lashley with women, a car and even attacking Top Flight to prove to Bobby that he is worthy and this week after weeks of anticipation MJF scored his ticket to the dance as he got three thumbs up. Will this satisfy our scumbag? Or will it be his ultimate undoing?

Mina with the upset

Mina Shirakawa made her official AEW contracted debut this past week in an eliminator match with Stardom’s AZM, the returning Skye Blue and the Timeless one. While the internet was concerned with Mina’s entrance music, she was putting her skills to work taking it to all three of the other women involved in this match. Shirakawa would score the upset pinfall on the Women’s Champion and the date for their return match would be set for Double or Nothing. Last time the two ladies faced off was over a lover’s quarrel involving Mariah May. With May out of the scene will things be different or is there more to the story?

Anarchy reigns supreme

Joe and Moxley beat each other senseless inside a steel cage with Moxley walking out as the victor thanks to the assistance of Gabe Kidd from NJPW. Moxley have been bloodied and battered at the end of the match, but that didn’t stop the Death Riders unit from standing tall once the match was over.

After the Young Bucks would come out to celebrate with the Death Riders, Kenny would try to make the save for Joe only to be beaten down himself. This would lead to Swerve climbing the cage and delivering a massive Swerve Stomp off the top of the cage leading to Matt Jackson raising the cage and the Death Riders team retreating. Swerve would then issue a challenge for a first time ever mixed Anarchy in the Arena.

Technical issues galore

We can’t discuss this week’s Collision without discussing the technical issues that plagued the show. Right from the start of the show you could tell there was something wrong with the transmission that was coming through. A lot of the graphics were whited out and even the audio from the commentary team felt like it was in the wrong sync for parts of the opening. The major let down obviously was the fact of the stream cutting out after the Mongo segment. It has left questions from viewers regarding what caused it.

Bryan Keith learns how hard a Samoan head is

The Learning Tree vs Gates of Agony was surprisingly good for what it was. It was never going to be an instant classic of a wrestling match, but for the brawl that they had, it was a good showing by both teams. One of my favourite parts of the match was Bryan Keith learning the hard way that Samoan heads are not so easily rocked but the lid of a trash can.

Moxley delivers the best promo of the Death Riders story

The Death Riders has been a controversial topic in the AEW landscape since its inception. This week in a pre-taped promo package, I feel we got the most intense and crazy version of Moxley unleashing on the AEW locker room. This is exactly what the story called for. It took until now for it to come out, but I for one am glad that we got this promo and that we are getting Anarchy in the Arena at Double or Nothing.
