TOP 5 Moments – WWE Backlash 2025

Good afternoon, good evening, good morning wherever you are in the world and reading this. WWE Backlash is now in the rear-view mirror, and we are going to talk about the top 5 moments coming out of the show.
1. THE BLOODLINE STRENGTHENS
We all knew that the Fatal Fourway was going to be an interesting time especially when you are pitting McIntyre, Knight, Fatu and Priest against each other. We expected a hard-hitting match and that was exactly what we got. It wouldn’t take long for hell to break loose between the men with Priest and McIntyre pairing off and battling throughout the arena leaving it to Fatu and Knight to battle it out in the ring.
It would be in the moment that Knight was going to put Fatu through the announce table that Solo would save his brethren and introduce the latest addition to The Bloodline Family, Jeff Cobb.
2. INJURIES PLAGUE THE MATCHES
Two matches deep and already there have been multiple injuries sustained throughout the night. First McIntyre would suffer a brutal South of Heaven Chokeslam from Priest which would leave both men being tended to by the medical team.
During the Women’s Intercontinental Championship match, Lyra would end up bloodied while she retained her championship over Lynch. It is believed that Lyra suffered a possible broken nose during the match.
3. RKO-FEST
John Cena said our childhood would and he was right as he retained the WWE Championship after battling his longtime nemesis. However, that was not before a barrage of RKO’s would make their appearance in the match. When Cena would take out the referee with the championship while aiming for Orton, the GM of Smackdown Nic Aldis and his crew make their way into the ring to check on the referee.
This would lead to a confrontation between Aldis and Orton with the latter of the two going on an RKO spree to Smackdown GM and his office staff. Orton will clearly be in for some hefty fines come this week’s Smackdown, but for now he got his frustrations out on the management.
4. GUNTHER OBLITIRATES PAT MCAFEE / DIRTY DOM RETAINS WITH HELP
Pat McAfee might be an athlete, but he definitely was no challenge for the former World Champion. Gunther would chop the hell out of McAfee’s chest, but McAfee would not give up his fight. Gunther would be unrelenting even getting Michael Cole involved when Cole would try to cheer on his commentary buddy. Gunther would ultimately lock in a sleeper on McAfee causing him to pass out. After the match, Gunther would send a show of respect to both Cole and McAfee before exiting the ring.
Dominick Mysterio has been the Intercontinental Champion since Wrestlemania and the crowd is split down the middle on how to feel about it. In his first PLE defense of the championship he would face off against Penta in a fast-paced brawl with Penta looking to secure his first singles championship in WWE. It wouldn’t come to fruition though due to the actions of Judgement Day and El Grande Americano who would interfere and cost Penta the match.
5. CENA TAKES OUT R-TRUTH
While it technically is not a part of the main Backlash show, the press conference saw WWE Champion, John Cena confronted by the one person who has stood by him since he turned on Cody Rhodes and the WWE Universe, R-Truth.
Truth would go into bat for himself and tell Cena that he has his back, but Cena would give Truth an AA through a table before walking away.
