WrestleHer: Aysha Makes History In PCW

By Adriana Allman

We’re back with another WrestleHer feature, wrapping up the second half of April with a spotlight on Australian women’s wrestling. It’s a shorter update this time, but there have been some major moments worth celebrating.

It was a historic night at PCW where they held their first-ever women’s title match in its 26-year history with a triple threat between Aysha, Tarlee, and Charlie Rose. All three women stepped up to make this a significant event showcasing their in-ring talent as well as incorporating creative twists on familiar spots. This kept the match engaging and competitive. Charlie continued to tap into her sassy bitch energy whilst Tarlee maintained her advantage as the bigger competitor, however it was still no match to Aysha’s nimble quickness to picking up the win, becoming the first holder of the new PCW Women’s title – a special moment as she has been a mainstay of the company since the very beginning of her wrestling journey where she has trained and debuted. Congratulations to both PCW and Aysha!

In Adelaide, ACW began its ‘new era’ as it reinvents itself under new management. Known for its intergender matches, ACW is now making moves toward building a full-fledged women’s division. At their aptly titled show, A New Era, Izzy Shaw and Axe Massacre faced off against Miki Fortune and Leah Lovegrove in a fast-paced, hard-hitting tag match that had more than a few jaw-dropping moments. Izzy and Axe maintained their strong chemistry as a team—Izzy’s experience and Axe’s unfiltered chaos (true to her ‘Trash Goblin’ persona) worked like a charm. Leah would accidentally dropkick Miki giving Axe the opening to pin Leah and win the match. Post-match tensions flare as Miki shoves Leah in frustration.

Meanwhile in Perth, Layla Divine successfully defended her title against Eleaine Hope at STW. At EPW for Brewshed Brawl Stella Nyx, Lizzie Maximus and Layla Divine participated in a 30 man rumble. In Queensland, over at IPW, tensions boiled over in a main event grudge match between multi champion Eugenie and Jesse Hope, Eugenie winning via submission.
