Melbourne Set for Explosive Weekend of Deathmatch Wrestling as International Stars Arrive This May
A plethora of international talent will descend on Melbourne this May for both Battle Championship Wrestling (BCW) and a joint event between Deathmatch DownUnder (DMDU) and American promotion ICW No Holds Barred. Among the visiting names is one of the most recognisable figures in the deathmatch wrestling scene—Mad Man Pondo. Hailing from Illinois, United States, Pondo is finally set to return to Australia, having last appeared in 2006 for AWF (Australian Wrestling Federation), where he competed in a hardcore match against TNT.
On 22 May, ICW NHB joins forces with DMDU for a stacked card that will feature several international stars. Those confirmed so far include Danny Demanto, Malcolm Monroe III (MM3), and Vic Craig. Mad Man Pondo will face none other than Australian deathmatch veteran Joel Bateman in a first-time-ever clash.
The following night, Friday 23 May, Mad Man Pondo heads to the Battle Kingdom for BCW, where he will team up with Big Japan Pro Wrestling’s Baka Gaijin to defend their BJW Tag Team Championships. Their challengers are yet to be revealed.
Also appearing at BCW is none other than WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling icon, The Great Muta, who will serve as the special guest host for the evening.
The action continues on Saturday 24 May as DMDU hosts its annual D.R.E.A.M Deathmatch Tournament.
Rounding off the weekend is ICW No Holds Barred 74, taking place on Sunday 25 May. DMDU D.R.E.A.M and ICW NHB 74 will air on IWTV.
