Konnan on WWE’s Acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide

On a recent episode of Keepin’ It 100, Konnan spoke openly about WWE’s headline-making acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. Known for never holding back, Konnan laid out the reality behind the deal and what it means for the wrestling business moving forward.

Not a Fire Sale — A Smart Business Move

Konnan made it clear the sale wasn’t a desperation move from AAA, but a smart, strategic decision. He pointed to the company’s long-standing financial limitations as a reason they couldn’t compete on a global stage.

Konnan: “The problem in AAA wasn’t talent or booking, but their budget for a whole year of television production was less than what WWE spends on one episode of their own.”That kind of financial gap, he explained, made it impossible for AAA to grow without outside help.

For Fans Worried About Change: “You Can’t Stop It”

Konnan didn’t shy away from addressing fans anxious about the takeover, either.

Konnan: “What happened? You can’t stop it. And what’s going to happen? You can’t stop that either.”

He assured listeners the partnership would only improve the product and create more opportunities for Latino wrestlers — something the industry’s needed for a long time.

Konnan: “The only thing we’re going to give you is a much better finished product, and that benefits everybody, and more work to a lot of people, and more work to other Latinos that a lot of people complain and say why aren’t they being used correctly? Now they will!”

A New Era for Lucha Libre

With WWE’s financial muscle and global reach, Konnan sees this as the start of a new era for AAA. He expects better production, increased visibility, and greater collaboration between AAA and WWE talent — opening doors for Latino stars to finally get the spotlight they deserve.
